Context :
For the end of the 2022 school year we had to make from scratch a vertical slice of a game in groups of approximatively 10 people with half being Game Designers and the other half being Game Artists.
Flavors Quest idea and concept came from Nathan Collard.
The game is a Rogue-lite with action features in a food-based environment (like Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs) where you play as one of the 3 playable character with the possibility to swap between them at any moment.
SOFTWARES USED
OVERVIEW
One of the main feature in Flavors Quest is the ability to switch between each character whenever the player wants to.
There are 3 characters :
Persillade
Fast dual-wielding knife playstyle.
Boulion
Tenderizer strike on huge area.
Chodevant
Throw 3 fireballs from afar.
The goal of the game is to clear all the rooms of a level by defeating every enemy. While doing so, you may collect ingredients to complete recipes that will give you permanent bonuses.
WORK PROCESS
While starting the project, I decided to create a Feature Document that explains how the different features work, that way it made the project way more clear for everyone in the group, and avoided some members to be lost.
I also had to make a High Concept Document about the game, giving more explanations around the game.
To make the game more enjoyable to play, I also made some UI/UX Design on Photoshop to guide the Game Artists on how the UI should look like.
