Context :
At the start of 2022, we had to create as a group, a 2D-metroidvania on Unity but it had to be inspired from books of specific writers.
We chose the book "Treasure Island" from Robert Louis Stevenson for the theme of the game and decided to make the main character a pink Blob.
SOFTWARES USED
OVERVIEW
Curse of the Blob is a 2D metroidvania platformer in which the player plays as a pirate Blob. By exploring various areas, he will gain new abilities that will allow him to progress even further.
FEATURES
The key feature in Curse of the Blob is that the player's character is a blob ; it makes his movements and abilities unique and allowed us to be creative.
Main feature : Size scaling
The player's character scales his size according to his current health, the more he has, the bigger he is.
Some paths might only be accessible if the player's character is tiny enough.

WORK PROCESS
As a System Designer, the first thing I had to do was to imagine and describe each feature with specific metrics.
That document was later used to explain the enemies' statistics, the player ones and what does the shop sell.
In order to make explanation and communication easier with the team, I decided to explain how the different abilities worked by quickly drawing simple illustrations.
Once that document was made, I spent most of my time doing QA and tests in order to find bugs.Â
When bugs were found, I told the Tech Designer about them and we took the time to guess what was causing these to happen.
